Pattern Information
Materials Knitting Loom: Small
gauge loom with a minimum of 76 pegs. (Sample knit on the
DA Looms small gauge Wonder Loom)
Yarn: Main Color= 200 yards
worsted weight yarn of your choice.
Contrasting Color = 150
yards of worsted weight yarn of your choice. (Karissma yarn
used in sample)
Notions: Tapestry Needle,
Knitting tool, crochet hook.
Gauge: 13 stitches and
25 rows per 4” square
Abbreviations
EW= e-wrap
P=purl
SS=Single stitch. Wrap the loom with the e-wrap twice. Lift
the bottom loop off the peg, leaving only 1 loop on the
peg.
Ch= Chain, make a chain stitch using a crochet hook.
MC= Main Color
CC= Contrasting color

This pattern is worked alternately in various
stitch patterns. Please be sure to review the pattern first and
familiarize yourself with the stitches necessary. Instructions

Though the pattern is written for the
small gauge loom, it is easily transferred to other looms by adjusting
the gauge of your yarn to match the loom gauge, and choosing a
loom that will make a tube slightly larger than the head of the
intended recipient of the cowl!

With MC, cast on 76 pegs using the crochet
cast on method. Join to work in the round.
Rounds 1-20 : Starting with a purl row, work
these rows in garter stitch pattern.
Rounds 21-31 : SS
Change to CC
Round 32: SS
Rounds 33-38: P
Change to MC
Round 39-78: SS
Round 79-80: P
Change to CC
Round 81:knit
Round 82-88: Switch to mock crochet stitch
and work these rows.
Finishing:
Bind off loosely with a crochet hook, making
3 chains between each bound off stitch.
Scalloped Edging (Crochet):
With MC, make the scalloped edging by working
a loose chain with the crochet hook catch the center stitch in
the chain of 3 from the bound off row then work 5 chain stitches,
between each set of 3 catching the next center stitch with the
last of the 5 in the chain.
Work in this manner around the entire
bottom edge of the cowl, and then secure and weave in all ends.
